Christkindlmarket Mugs Unveiled Ahead of Holiday Season

For the third year in a row, Christkindlmarket won't have boot-shaped mugs

Getting a souvenir mug from Christkindlmarket has become a tradition for holiday celebrations, but this year’s mug may disappoint some who were hoping for a return to an old stand-by look to the cups.

This year’s mugs, unveiled Friday, are designed like a traditional German gingerbread heart, the celebration’s organizers said. Those looking to purchase the mugs can purchase them in a three-pack, as Naperville, Chicago, and Milwaukee are all represented in the set.

Here is a look at the mug:

For the last three holiday seasons, Christkindlmarket organizers have stayed away from the iconic boot design that mugs in previous years had. The mugs can be filled with gulhwein or hot chocolate at the month-long festival.

The last time a boot mug was given out was in 2015.
