Have you noticed how, much like Chicago chefs, local sommeliers are getting A-list attention nowadays? And, deservedly so; without them we might still be swilling vino de cardboard box. Shaw's Crab House is pulling together several of Chicago's top-notch sommeliers to pair wines with a special seven-course dinner at 6:30PM on Monday, Dec. 8.
Prepared by Shaw's chef Arnulfo Tellez, the meal will feature pairings by seven noted sommeliers. The evening begins with an oyster-and-sparkling wine reception paired by Chad Feldman of Shaw's. The first course of assorted sashimi is paired with a sake by Michael Muser of the Peninsula Hotel and Avenues Restaurant. Subsequent courses of sauteed lobster, steamed Atlantic cod, grilled king salmon, braised beef and a chocolate mascarpone strada will be paired with wines by Michael Taylor of the Italian Village restaurants, Adam Seger of Nacional 27 and Osteria Via Stato, Brad Wermager of Wildfire, Alpana Singh, master sommelier of Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, and Steven Tindle of Shaw's and Vong's Thai Kitchen, respectively. Bask in the glow of their guidance.
The guest sommelier holiday wine dinner at Shaw's is $125 per person. Reservations can be made by calling the restaurant at 312-527-2722.
