Ordering up a hamburger is a no-brainer, but sometimes can get a little ho-hum. Enter BurgerFest, a celebration of the humble hamburger at Timothy O'Toole's north suburban Gurnee location. The popular pub will usher in a week of burger-based specials to rekindle your love affair with hamburgers.
From Saturday, Aug. 1 through Aug. 8, Timothy O'Toole's executive chef Sean O'Brien will start with certified Black Angus beef burgers and let his imagination run wild. Choose from eight different variations: The Buffalo Burger (topped with buffalo sauce and bleu cheese), the Bahn-Mi Burger (with Korean-style bahn-mi cole slaw and wasabi aioli), the Gourmet (boursin cheese, roasted garlic, roasted red peppers and Dijon aioli), the All-American (American cheese, onion, special sauce, shredded lettuce and tomatoes), the Kansas City BBQ (cheddar cheese, sweet coleslaw and chef O'Brien's secret barbecue sauce recipe), the Bistro Burger (caramelized onion, brie and bacon), the Big Kahuna (grilled pineapple, mozzarella, teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds) and, finally, a Southwestern-style vegetarian version with tomato, red onion, jalapeno mayo and jack cheese.
All burgers are priced at $8.99 and are served with your choice of a side dish (garlic mashed potatoes, kettle chips, French fries, baked potato, steamed broccoli, cole slaw or veggie of the day).
