Scoop: Kate will return to TV, but without Jon

TLC and Jon Gosselin settled their lawsuits against each other, and the details of which are being kept confidential. TLC did issue a statement to that effect, but it included a puzzling line: “The whole Gosselin family remains under contract with TLC.”

What? Does that mean “Jon & Kate Plus Eight” might be coming back to television? Short answer: No way.

A source with knowledge of the deal said that Jon is not going to be part of any programming plan on TLC, but Kate is expected back. “We’re still doing the show with Kate,” said the source.

There is no air date for Kate’s show, and in fact, producers are still tweaking just what the mom of multiples will be doing on the show. According to one source close to the production, this much is certain: “It will not be a dating show.”

As for whether we’ll see the Gosselin children back on television, that’s up in the air for now. A TLC source said that maybe “down the line” there could be a special, but there aren’t any current plans beyond a show for Kate.

Kevin Eubanks’ ‘Tonight’ future
There have been reports that band leader Kevin Eubanks won't return March 1 for the new iteration of “The Tonight Show.” That’s not the case, according to multiple sources involved with the production of the show.

Eubanks has told host Jay Leno and the show’s producers that he wants to end his 18-year run with Leno, but not yet.

“He’s going to be there for a while,” says one source very close to Eubanks. “Nothing has been decided for sure.”

One sign that Eubanks will be around for a while is that despite rumors, the show hasn’t started any kind of search for a replacement.

Besides an eventual departure for Eubanks, there will be other changes to Leno’s show. A show insider said to expect a “more intimate” stage and more musical acts. Some of the correspondents that were new additions for “The Jay Leno Show” will be back, and a show source said that onetime intern Ross Matthews will return.

One staffer you won’t be seeing in front of the camera anymore is former Howard Stern sidekick John Melendez. He’ll no longer be the show’s announcer, but he’s staying on staff as a writer. According to one source behind the scenes, Melendez is seen as “one of the best (writers) on the staff, collaborative and inventive.”

Britney’s big spending spree
Britney Spears “Circus” tour must have been a lucrative one, if her recent spending habits are any indication.

In Touch Weekly is reporting she spent nearly $750,000 to renovate her Calabasas, Calif., home. She spent “$150,000 on new furniture, $200,000 on artwork, $100,000 on a new bathroom, $150,000 on electronics and even close to $100,000 on Venetian plaster walls,” according to the magazine.

Terms of Spears’ conservatorship allows for a $1,500 weekly allowance. Word is her father, Jamie, approved of the purchases.
