    What to Know

    • Mike Tirico signed with NBC in 2016, and has called Thursday Night Football and Notre Dame football games.

    • Tirico has also covered golf and the Olympics for the network.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings have an historic rivalry, but one broadcaster will use the rivalry to do something he's never done in his career.

NBC’s Mike Tirico, known primarily for his work covering the NFL and golf for NBC, will make his NHL play-by-play debut for the game between the teams on Feb. 20, as he sits down beside Eddie Olczyk for the broadcast on NBCSN.

Tirico, who also calls Notre Dame football games for the network, signed with NBC in 2016, and has done some anchoring during hockey events, including the recent NHL All-Star Game in San Jose.
