He's sort of the guy you love to hate, so some may be missing former Sun-Times sports columnist Jay Mariotti.

Well, take heart. It won't be long before you can read more of his controversial calls. 

After splitting from the Sun-Times last summer -- after 17 years with the paper -- Mariotti has taken up with America Online as a national sports columnist.

At the time of his resignation, Mariotti said he decided to leave newspapers in favor of the Internet because newspapers are "destined to die."
