A Chicago Public Schools varsity basketball coach is expected to make an appearance on bond court Friday morning on charges he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl.
Kevin Jones, 35, of the 8300 block of South Kerfoot Avenue, was charged with one count each of felony criminal sexual assault on a victim between 13 and 17 years old and attempted criminal sexual assault by force, according to police.
Jones is a coach at Epic Academy Charter High School on the city's far south side.
Investigators allege Jones was driving the teen and her friend home from school on Jan. 17 when he told the friend to leave. He then assaulted the girl inside the vehicle, police said.
As of Thursday Jones was no longer employed at the school, the Chicago Tribune reported. A school spokeswoman couldn't say whether Jones was fired or resigned.
