Wicker Park mainstay Double Door is facing eviction for the second time.
The iconic music venue’s lease expired at the end of October, according to an attorney for the property's owners, and the landlord took to Cook County Circuit Court just days later to push for Double Door's eviction.
Attorney Bonita Stone said the building's lease states the tenants must ask to have their lease extended 180 days before the lease ends. She claimed Double Door did not do that and the property owners have since filed a forcible detainer complaint.
"From my perspective the lease is clear and it's kind of game over," Stone said.
Representatives for Double Door declined NBC Chicago's request for comment, but the venue has shows scheduled through March, according to their online calendar.
An attorney for Double Door filed a motion on Thursday to change the judge in the case. They are expected to appear in court Dec. 10.
"We wish that it had been resolved amicably and that we could have avoided a court battle," Stone said.

Many in the area, however, say the iconic venue should be able to stay in the location.
"To lose such a historic venue like Double Door would be, to me, it would definitely hurt," said resident Dan Dorfman.
The Chicago Tribune reports that Double Door management fought against landlords in court in 2005 over lease troubles, but a multiyear agreement was eventually reached.
