Police Release Surveillance of Suspects in Halloween Assault

Anyone with information about the attacks is asked to call police

Chicago Police released surveillance video late Tuesday afternoon in hopes of finding the suspects who sexually assaulted two women in the West Loop on Halloween.

Police said the two women, ages 29 and 30, were walking to their vehicle at about 4 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Lake and Halsted when they were approached by the men.

The two men grabbed the women then battered and sexually assaulted them, police said. The males drove off in a light- or gold-colored four-door vehicle.

The crimes have put people who work and live in the trendy neighborhood on high alert.

"It's devastating to hear that," said West Loop resident Aleia Murawski. "I do not want to have to go to work and worry about my safety."

The West Loop is known for streets lined with bars, restaurants and retail, dubbed Restaurant Row along Randolph Street, and for new development.

Residents said the area is generally safe, but some spots draw an unwanted crowd.

Police said the two men involved in the alleged assault are thought to be between 25 and 30 years old. One was described as standing between 5 feet, 5 inches and 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing between 150 and 170 pounds. He also has a dark beard, police said.

The other man was described as having short, blonde hair, standing between 5 feet, 11 inches to 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighing between 150 and 160 pounds, police said. He was wearing a light-colored baseball cap, a dark jacket and a black hooded sweater.

Anyone with information about the attacks is asked to call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8380.
