Mark Weinberg's run ended when Italian cops found him camping out in northern Italy and arrested him.

Doctors in Italy will allow police to question a fugitive American doctor who was found apparently hiding in a tent at the foot of Mont Blanc last week, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Mark Weinberger, on the lam for five years and featured on America's Most Wanted for alleged fraud and malpractice, stabbed himself in the neck once discovered near Italy's border with France.

Doctors say his self-inflicted wounds were not life-threatening.

The 46-year-old Weinberger, of Merrillville, Indiana, has been running from authorities ever since a Hammond Grand Jury indicted him on 22 counts of fraud for allegedly concocting a scheme to overbill insurance companies for procedures that were either not needed or sometimes never performed.

In at least one case, the scheme allegedly resulted in death.

Authorities are trying to extradite Weinberger to the United States, which could take up to a year.
