Suspect a Hispanic male: police

Evanston police are speaking to a "person of interest" related to a sexual attack on a Northwestern University student.

Cops stopped a man who fit the description of a sexual attacker who climbed into the apartment of a female student Sunday morning, held a hand over her mouth and told her to be quiet as he abused her genitals.

The university sent out a campus-wide advisory reporting that a suspect entered the victim’s second story apartment through a window between 6:10 and 7:10 a.m.

The suspect was described as a male Hispanic, approximately 40 years old, 5’7” tall and weighing around 200 pounds. He was wearing a black hat, black sunglasses, white t-shirt and knee-length shorts. The unidentified victim said he had a heavy accent and strong body odor.

Al Cubbage of Northwestern's University Relations said that since the incident occured off-campus, Evanston police would be handling all investigations. Cubbage said that police are actively investigating the case and more information will be available soon.
