A man waiting to get his haircut at a northwest side barber shop was killed when a gunman walked in and opened fire, reports the Chicago Tribune.

Charles Akers was sitting in a barber chair at The Fade Inn on 5600 block of West Irving Park Road near Central Avenue around 8:20 p.m. when the gunman walked directly up to Akers and shot him multiple times, Chicago Police Officer Laura Kubiak told the paper.

25-year-old Akers was taken to the Stein Institute and was pronounced dead at 11:15 p.m. Friday night, said a spokesperson for the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The gunman, described as a Latino man in his late teens, immediately escaped out the front door and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, said Kubiak. Police are investigating the homicide and no one is in custody yet.
