Group Attacks Man For iPhone In Gold Coast

Man suffered bumps, bruises and cuts on his head, police say

A man was robbed of his iPhone in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood Sunday night, police said.

The 36-year-old man was walking home from work around 10 p.m. on the 800 block of North Dewitt Place when the group beat him and robbed him of his phone, authorities said.

The man suffered bumps, bruises and cuts on his head in the attack. He was released from Northwestern Memorial Hospital Monday morning.

Police said they're investigating, but didn't have anyone in custody as of Monday afternoon.

The incident is the latest in a series of attacks by a large group.

Two men were beaten and robbed by a group of 10 teens around 9:50 p.m. on the 500 block of North State Street. Another incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. Saturday when a man and a woman near the Red Line Station at State and Lake were approached by a group and the man was attacked, police said.
