Gary Man Fatally Shot at South Side Party

The man was attending a party just before 11:30 p.m. at a home in the West Englewood neighborhood when several men and women began fighting

A Gary, Ind. man was shot and killed Saturday night at a party on Chicago’s South Side.

The man was attending a party just before 11:30 p.m. at a home in the 2000 block of West 67th Place when several men and women began fighting, according to authorities. One man left the party, returned and fired shots from outside the home, police said.

A 35-year-old man, who lived in the 2200 block of West 8th Avenue in Gary, was shot in the back of the head and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. His name was not being released, pending notification of family members.

No other injuries were reported in the shooting and no one was in custody Sunday morning.
