Death on Tracks Shuts Down Metra Service Near Joliet

A fatal “pedestrian incident” stopped Metra trains on the Rock Island lines Sunday afternoon.

Details on the incident were not immediately available, but it happened on a bridge near south suburban Joliet, according to Metra spokeswoman Judy Pardonnet.

Rock Island outbound train No. 211, due in Joliet at 1:51 p.m., has been stopped outside of Joliet due to a crossing incident, according to a service alert on Metra’s Web site.

Rock Island Inbound Train No. 218, due out of Joliet at 2:24 p.m. and scheduled to arrive Chicago at 3:45 has also been delayed due to a previous pedestrian incident, the Web site said.
