    The Lake County Sheriff’s Department is conducting a homicide investigation after officers found two decomposed bodies while doing a welfare check.

    Officials said the bodies were discovered just before 4:30 p.m. Friday in the 14500 block of West 197th Avenue in Lowell, Ind. after a family member called for a well-being check.

    Upon arrival, officers found the decomposed bodies of two individuals inside the home.

    The identities of the decomposed bodies remains unknown, but officials are working with the Lake County Coroner’s Office to identify the individuals through dental records and DNA, according to Sheriff John Buncich.

    “We’re looking for a person of interest,” Buncich said.

    Neighbors say a retired couple lived in the home with their adult son.

    Further details were not immediately available and police said an investigation is ongoing.
