Boil Order Expanded in Park Forest

A precautionary boil order initially only affected about a third of village residents, but has since been expanded to include the entire village

A boil order issued after a water main broke Wednesday has now been expanded to include all of south suburban Park Forest.

The 16-inch main broke about 11:45 a.m. Wednesday near Park Street and Westwood Drive, dropping water pressure in the distribution system, the village said in a statement on its website.

A precautionary boil order initially only affected about a third of village residents, but has since been expanded to include the entire village, the statement said.

Residents should boil water for at least five minutes before consuming it, although the chances of the water being unsafe is slight, the village said.

The water main was repaired about 2 a.m. Thursday. The order will remain in place pending the outcome of water quality tests, the village said.
