Now J.Lo may be forced to do some of the judging herself. Just days before she is expected to be presented as American Idol's newest judge in a $12 million dollar deal, Noa's camp is reporting that he plans to audition on the show.
Even worse: he plans to sing one of Lopez' own songs for her in front of television cameras. And at 36, he's too old to qualify for the second round in Hollywood, so it's clear Noa is merely attempting to promote himself at her expense.
“Ojani intends to be in the line at the Forum in Los Angeles on September 22 to try out for American Idol before his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez,” a friend told RadarOnline. “He will sing one of her songs and has a great voice, so it will be interesting to see what she thinks of his performance.”
We can take an eductated guess. Things haven't exactly remained civil between the pair, who met in Miami where Noa was just beginning his career as the Magic City's most opportunistic waiter.
They were married 11 months before things ended in divorce in 1998 and the fun really began: he sued after being fired as manager of her restaurant, Madre's, subsequently signed a confidentiality deal, and was slapped with a permanent injunction when he tried to write a tell-all in 2007. Noa has since attempted to sell a tape from their honeymoon, make a film based on their time together, and grab back a tiny measure of the spotlight.
Each try has gone about as well as the others -- Noa's 2010 pinup calendar is currently sitting at no. 4,253,591 in Amazon bookstore sales rankings.
Here's suggesting the former Mr. Lo avoid "Love Don't Cost a Thing" if he attempts to make it out of auditions alive. Jenny may have moved on to salsa superstar Marc Anthony, but we doubt she'd appreciate the irony.
