Joey Feek, who with her husband Rory formed the award-winning country duo Joey + Rory, was laid to rest in a private ceremony in Alexandria, Indiana, on Tuesday.
On Saturday, her husband Rory wrote a touching tribute to his wife on his blog This Life I Live, sharing intimate photos and memories of the ceremony, as well as a video their friends made "celebrating Joey's life."

"Joey’s one hope was that she could 'come home' on a beautiful day… and oh, it was," Rory wrote. "The daffodils were blooming, the grass was green and sky was bright blue."
We are so very saddened to learn of the passing of Joey Feek. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and fans today.

The country singer passed away on March 4 after battling cervical cancer since her diagnosis in 2014. She was 40.
Originally from Alexandria, Indiana, she found success when she paired up in 2008 with her songwriter husband on the Country Music Television singing competition "Can You Duet?" The couple was recently nominated for a Grammy Award for best country duo/group performance for their song "If I Needed You."
In his blog post Saturday, Rory shared that the last time he had been on stage in their barn/concert hall was for a performance with Joey in October. And after their pastor, his sister, her best friend, and their manager all spoke, Rory said he had trouble taking that same stage again.

After the service, Rory said a team of mules carried Joey's wooden box in an 1800's wagon to their family plot, where their pastor spoke.
"[H]e told us how we can all have a service like hers when it comes our time to go, with just as many people loving us as loved Joey," Rory wrote. "All we have to do he said… is live like she did."
