And U of I's Commencement Speaker Is …

It's Bill Daley, brother of Mayor Richard Daley and top dog of President Barack Obama.

The chief of staff returns to Illinois next month to give commencement speeches during the 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. ceremonies on May 15 at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

And he has much to discuss.

Clinton's former U.S. Secretary of Commerce was named chief of staff by Obama in January. Daley took over for Rahm Emanuel, who takes over for Daley's brother as the next Chicago mayor.

He previously served as vice chair for JPMorgan Chase & Co and also ran Al Gore's presidential campaign back in 2000. He also ran the historic recount effort that ended with Gore conceding the race to George W. Bush.

Daley, who received his bachelor's from Loyola and law degree from John Marshall Law School, is scheduled to speak at Assembly Hall, 1800 S. First St., in Champaign. This is U of I's 140th Commencement.
