“Amazing Spider-Man” Scribe Already Hired to Write Sequel

They're still shooting the Spider-Man reboot, and already they've hired the writer to bang out another chapter. This is a good thing, right?

James Vanderbilt, who's also written "Zodiac" and "The Losers," has been asked to write a follow-up to "The Amazing Spider-Man," reported Heat Vision.

The latest chapter of your friendly neighborhood webslinger, starring Andrew Garfield in the title, with Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard, finishes shooting in April with an eye toward release on July 3, 2012.

We know that a sequel to director Marc Webb's Spidey saga was inevitable, but the fact that Vanderbilt is being brought back for the next one is a pretty strong indication that the studio is happy with what they've seen thus far.
