The Fig Tree Takes Root in the West Loop

The Fig Tree Takes Root in the West Loop
The Fig Tree is one of the newest boutiques in the West Loop.

Cranes have been hovering over the West Loop for years now. Condos, Starbucks and Volkswagens have taken over the former warehouse district, and many boutiques have followed.
But, if you haven’t strolled down Madison lately, you probably haven’t seen The Fig Tree.

The newest boutique on the strip, The Fig Tree is a charming gift shop that carries something for pretty much anyone.
A menagerie of scented soaps, candles, children’s books, funky scarves, colorful purses, tiny Barack Obama figures, “Little Democrat” and “Little Republican” onesies, and hand-made jewelry – there’s literally something to suit anyone's taste.

The owner, Ann, is willing to help if you can’t decide what to get. She even stocks gifts for pets. (Hey, your mother-in-law IS a dog lover!)
Stop by to browse (the address is 1037 W. Madison), and you might get inspired to start your holiday shopping early... which leads us to the real decision: Who makes a better stocking stuffer? A tiny Barack Obama or a mini John McCain?
