iPhone apps for alcoholics

It was only a matter of time before technology and the fine art of drinking mixed worlds.

Two new iPhone apps are designed to make your cocktailing experience more efficient.

SpecialsAgent.com, a Web site dedicated to locating food and drink specials at bars and restaurants, is taking things to another digital level by launching an iPhone application.

The app provides a more mobile experience of the Web site, and allows users to search specials on a specific day, in a specific neighborhood, or even for specific types of specials.

In addition to the 600,000 bars and restaurants the site boasts in its database, the company works with individual venues to create "SpecialOps" -- deals specifically for its users.

Another app is designed to make your drinking experience easier when you're already in the bar.

River North's Bull and Bear started using TouchLife this week, an iPhone app that allows customers to order drinks from your phone and get it delivered wherever you are in the bar.

The app sends the digital order to a screen behind the bar, the bartender mixes the drink and the server is able to locate the customer's location via the same screen. The app also sends information on drink specials to the user.

Now if they can just figure out how to discreetly send that drink to the gal on the other side of the bar then they'd really be on to something.
