Bermuda's Flora Duffy won gold, posting a time of 1:55:36. It is Bermuda's first Olympic triathlon medal, won by Duffy in her final Olympic appearance. Bermuda was also the smallest nation to win a Summer Olympic medal of any color, and now they have two.
Great Britain's Georgia Taylor-Brown won silver, finishing with a time of 1:56:50 in her Olympic debut.
Nicola Spirig of Switzerland failed to place despite entering the competition as a favorite to win it all.
