Three Blackhawks Prospects on Team USA's Preliminary World Juniors Roster

3 Hawks prospects named to Team USA's World Juniors roster originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Team USA announced its preliminary roster for the 2021 World Junior Championship. Among those repping the United States are Hawks prospects Drew Commesso, Alex Vlasic and Landon Slaggert.

Commesso, 18, was selected by the Blackhawks in the second round (No. 46 overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft.

The goalie went 18-7-1 with a 2.05 goals-against average, a .920 save percentage and three shutouts last season with the U.S. National Development Program's under-18 team. The 6'2, 180 lb. netminder is currently a freshman at Boston University.

Vlasic, a 19-year-old 6'6 D-man, was picked by the Hawks in the second round of the 2019 draft at No. 43 overall and is a sophomore at Boston.

Slaggert, an 18-year-old center that was selected in the third round of the 2020 draft (No. 79 overall), is a freshman at Notre Dame.

Training camp for Team USA will begin on Dec. 6 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan.

The upcoming World Juniors will be held in Edmonton, Alberta from Dec. 25, 2020 through Jan. 5, 2021.
