Romine could be out until midseason with wrist injury originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Cubs backup catcher Austin Romine, who went on the 10-day injured list Monday, might be out longer expected due to a bad sprain.
Cubs manager David Ross said Wednesday Romine got an MRI on his left wrist which revealed a “significant tear.”

“He’s going to be out a little while,” Ross added.
The Cubs estimate at least “several weeks” before Romine can resume baseball activities, which shuts him down until at least mid-May.
Once he works back up to full strength, it's likely Romine will need a minor-league rehab stint before rejoining the Cubs. That could push his return into June.
Romine, 32, has appeared in six games this season and is 1-for-9 at the plate. He made his season debut April 14 after missing most of spring training with a right knee sprain.
The Cubs added catcher Tony Wolters to the active roster from the South Bend alternate site Monday to back up Willson Contreras.
The Cubs have three other catchers on the alt-site roster in Taylor Gushue, P.J. Higgins and Jose Lobaton.
