Fighting Illini star Ayo Dosunmu is going pro. Dosunmu joined ESPN’s “The Jump” on Tuesday to announce that he has officially declared for the NBA draft this summer.

Dosunmu led the Illini in scoring all three years he played, culminating with an average of 20.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists over the 2020-21 season. In addition, his 48.8 FG% was second among all D1 guards who averaged over 20 points per game this season.

He led Illinois to a Big Ten tournament championship in 2021, winning the tourney's MVP award. He also took home first-team All-Big Ten and first-team All-American honors, and won the Bob Cousy award, which recognizes the best point guard in the nation.

Dosunmu actually declared for the NBA draft last April, but changed his mind and decided to return for his junior year to pursue an NCAA Championship. Things didn’t go the Illini’s way this season, as they lost to Loyola Chicago in the second round of the tournament.

The NBA draft will begin on July 29.
