Prior to their doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday, the Chicago White Sox have added a pitcher to their roster, calling up hurler Evan Marshall from Triple-A Charlotte.
In a corresponding roster move, the White Sox sent down right-handed pitcher Thyago Vieira.
Marshall has had a strong start to the season, going 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA and registering a pair of saves and 13 strikeouts for the Charlotte Knights. He has only issued one walk in 10 innings of work.
In his big-league career, Marshall has appeared in 101 games with the Diamondbacks, Mariners, and Indians, going 4-7 with a 5.15 ERA in those appearances.
Vieira did not appear in a game with the White Sox before his demotion. He has a 2-0 record with a 5.00 ERA in seven appearances with Triple-A Charlotte this season.
The White Sox will next be in action on Wednesday when they take on the Baltimore Orioles in a straight doubleheader. First pitch of the first game is set for 3:10 p.m., and the second game will start shortly after the conclusion of the first contest.
