Rizzo, who stood up in Bryant’s wedding and has been very open about his friendship with the slugger, blasted the report as clickbait and offered some advice to the reporter who broke the story:
“’Sources’ LOL. Why don’t people just own up instead of writing articles for clicks?” he tweeted. “It’s football season. Take a brake (sic) and chill.”
Rizzo’s comments come after ESPN’s Buster Olney reported that the Cubs were “open” to trading Bryant this offseason. Cubs President Theo Epstein dismissed the report, saying that the team is looking to add, not subtract, players.
