Bliss Heads to Lingerie Football Playoffs

Chicago to face Miami, Tampa or Philadelphia in Feb. 4 Championship Game

The Chicago Bliss -- the Windy City's Lingerie Football League team -- clinched the franchise's first-ever Playoff berth in front of a near capacity crowd at Sears Centre Arena on Friday night.

Their defeat over the Philadelphia Passion means the team advances to the Eastern Conference Playoffs in Miami on Super Bowl weekend.

It didn't take long for the fireworks to start Friday night as Chicago opened the game with an impressive drive that was capped by a nine yard run by Game MVP QB Elle Cartabiano to put Chicago ahead 6-0.

Chicago never gave up the lead, posting 28 first half points and a 28-13 halftime lead.

The key play of the game came with only seven seconds remaining in the half and Philly driving inside the Chicago four yard line when Bliss safety Kat Johns intercepted Philly QB Jackie Danico and made a 46 yard touchdown return.

Philadelphia never recovered from that potential 14 point swing.  Running back Saran Dunmore added another three touchdowns in the second half to blow the game wide open with a final score of 46-19.

Chicago will now face either Miami, Tampa or Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference Championship game on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010 at Seminole Hard Rock Live Arena in Hollywood, Florida.

If Chicago wins the Eastern Conference championship, they will advance to play the Western Conference champion in the seventh annual Super Bowl halftime special.
