White Sox Place Tim Anderson on Paternity List After Birth of Daughter

Anderson and his wife Bria welcomed their second child earlier this week

Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson won’t be on the field when the team takes on the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday, but he has a really good excuse for his absence.

According to the White Sox, Anderson has been placed on the Paternity List after his wife Bria gave birth to the couple’s daughter Paxton on Monday in Chicago.

He will be eligible to come off the list as soon as Thursday, but could stay on it through Saturday if he chooses to.

In a corresponding roster move, the White Sox have recalled right-handed pitcher Jose Ruiz from the Triple-A Charlotte Knights. Ruiz posted a 2.70 ERA and 10 strikeouts this spring with the White Sox in Arizona, and he allowed two earned runs in four innings of work during the 2018 season in Chicago.
