Cubs' Brass Gets Last Laugh in Prank War With Tommy La Stella

The prank war between Chicago Cubs infielder Tommy La Stella and executives Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer has hit an hilarious crescendo as the team prepares to leave spring training.

During Friday’s game, the Cubs played a video, starring Anthony Rizzo, in which they tried to help La Stella find love, and threatened him a bit in the process:

“Tommy is really really lonely, and it’s really kind of sad. He’s desperate, and he needs to find a life partner,” Rizzo said.

At the end of the video, the Cubs threatened to give out La Stella’s personal phone number if he didn’t stop his prank war with the team. That war began when La Stella began parking in President Theo Epstein and G.M. Jed Hoyer’s parking spots at the team’s complex in Arizona.

The executives responded by stealing his uniform, forcing him to take grounders while wearing khakis and a collared shirt. La Stella then put a bouncy house in the parking spots, leading to the latest escalation from the Cubs’ brass.

In the video, Rizzo also ribbed La Stella for not getting out much, and for having bad personal hygiene.

Fortunately for the infielder, Rizzo and the Cubs are offering to help him find love, whether it’s dating or a committed relationship, according to the video.
