The wife of Rob Blagojevich, brother of the former governor, testified this morning that she encouraged Rob to assist with his brother's campaign because it would help the two men "grow closer, perhaps."
Julie Blagojevich, a former beauty queen who lives in Nashville with Rob, testified that when Rod called Robert in the summer of 2008 and asked him to chair his campaign, he was "reluctant". But she convinced him to do so. "We had told his mom before she died that the sons would help one another."
Julie Blagojevich testified that she and Rob didn't need the money.
She said she had only one question. She wanted to know about the federal investigation, but Rod and Patti indicated "to the best of their knowledge, the federal investigation was behind them."
She convinced Robert to help his brother, saying she thought it would be a "good opportunity to get to know his brother."
