Sen. Dan Rutherford began his career in politics as a Legislative Assistant in Springfield after graduating from Illinois State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
He was first elected to the Illinois Senate in 2002 after a 10-year-term in the House of Representatives. Seven years later he was appointed Assistant Republican Leader. He currently serves on the Financial Institutions Committee and bi-partisan Joint Committee on Administrative Rules.
Rutherford advocates for teen motorist safety, quality care for nursing home residents, and agricultural and conservation interests.
