Local Politician in N.C. Quits Post — in Klingon

A local politician in North Carolina tendered an unusual, and impressively geeky, resignation letter this week — one in Klingon, NBC News reported Friday. David Waddell had two years left in his term on the town council in Indian Trail, just outside Charlotte, but he threw in the towel Wednesday with a letter to the mayor written in Klingon, the language of the enemy race in the "Star Trek" universe. (The mayor, Waddell told NBC News, "is a little bit of a Trekkie, also.") Waddell cited long-standing struggles with the town manager as the reason for his resignation, and he accused other officials of cronyism and secrecy, saying he planned to run for the U.S. Senate this year as a write-in candidate.
