Chicago Cubs pitcher Yu Darvish paid nearly $5 million for his suburban Chicago home, but there’s already one major change he’s hoping to make.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Darvish’s representatives have asked the city of Evanston to allow him to build a 6-foot-tall fence around his front yard and an adjoining vacant lot.

The new cub, who is currently injured, reportedly purchased the six-bedroom, 5,400-square-foot mansion in Evanston for $4.55 million last month.

But current Evanston code prohibits fences in front yards. Darvish’s application is slated to be considered by the Evanston Preservation Commission Tuesday evening, the Tribune reports.

Darvish has posted a 1-3 record with a 4.95 ERA so far this season, and is currently on the disabled list with tendinitis in his right triceps. He also missed time this season with a flu bug.

In an interview with Cubs catcher Chris Gimenez, it was revealed that Darvish is having a tough time dealing with the critiques that have flowed forth on social media during his rough start to the season.

“I think he thinks that Chicago hates him for going on the DL a couple of times,” Gimenez told the Chicago Sun-Times. “I’ve tried to portray to him, ‘Listen, they’re going to love you when we get to October and we’re doing the things that we all want to do here, (and) you’re the main reason we’re doing it and we’re riding you all the way through it.’”
