Police Ask for Help Identifying Body Found in Kankakee River

Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a body found in the Kankakee River on Saturday.

Around 11:20 a.m., officers responded to a report of a body in the water near the back of a residence in the 29000 block of Redman Rd. in Wilmington, according to a release from Illinois State Police.

They located the body of a female, and on Monday, the Will County Coroner conducted an autopsy, the results of which are “pending further lab analysis.”

Illinois State Police are seeking help in identifying the woman, who is thought to have been in her late teens or early twenties.

She’s described as light-skinned, standing around 5’ tall, weighing 102 pounds with red and brown hair, authorities said.

The woman had two piercings in her right ear and one in the left, and was wearing a black, one-piece bodysuit from Forever 21 that has a 3/4 zipper, size small.

Anyone with information is asked to call the ISP tip line at (815) 726-6377, ext. 2.

Callers can remain anonymous, according to police, who continue to investigate.
