Weekend: Food and Festival Fun


Friday-Sunday: Taste of Randolph Street hits Chicago this weekend. The fest is a chance for Windy City foodies to sample many of West Loop's hottest restaurants. Of course there will also be plenty of non-food-focused fun available, including craft displays and three stages of live music. Taste of Randolph Street fills the six-block stretch of Randolph St between Peoria St and Racine Ave. Friday, 5-10 pm, Sat. and Sun., 12-10 pm, 900 W. Randolph St, $10

Friday-Sunday: Cubs fans will swarm Clark St in even higher numbers this weekend when the team hosts its first ever Wrigleyville Block Party. The three-day bash will include live music and loads of favorite gameday treats like Vienna Beef hot dogs. Fri. - Sun., 11am - 8pm, Clark St between Addison St and Waveland Ave, Free

Friday: "Summer Lovin'" will be in full swing this weekend when more than 1,000 Chicagoans attend one of the summer's hottest singles events. The Auxiliary Board of Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Chicago Magazine will host this soiree at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Guests will enjoy cocktails, drinks and a chance to meet their very own Sandy -- or Danny. 7-10:30pm, Tickets are $85 in advance, $95 at the door

Friday: Backstreet's back in Chicago this weekend. Backstreet Boys will share the stage with New Kids on the Block at their sold-out United Center show on Friday, but the party will get larger than life later in the night when Howie D. of BSB along with other secret celebrity guests stop by adjacent nightclubs Excalibur and Vision for the Official Backstreet Boys After Party. 10pm - 4am, 632 N. Saturday-Sunday: In case you didn't get enough BBQ at Ribfest last weekend, things are getting smokey again at the 6 Corners BBQ Fest on Milwaukee Ave. This weekend marks the inaugural year for this saucy street fest. Stop by for live music, drinks and -- of course -- a whole lotta BBQ. Sat., 12-10pm, Sun. 12-8pm, 4000 N. Milwaukee Ave, Suggested $6 donation

Saturday: Chicago sports buffs can beef up this weekend for the Men's Fitness Ultimate Athlete Challenge at North Avenue Beach. Competitors will face off in timed physical challenges while spectators enjoy a beach bash featuring music, games and celebrity cameos. The athlete with the highest combined score at the end of the day bags $5,000 and ultimate bragging rights. 10am-6pm, North Avenue Beach, Free

Sunday: Celebrate Dad in true culinary fashion this Sunday at "Real Men Cook," hosted by Chicago State University. This Father's Day fest serves up family-style food and fun for the more than 5,000 Chicagoans expected to attend. All food is free with paid admission to the event, so Dad can get his grub on without breaking the bank. 3-6pm, 9501 S. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, General admission adult tickets are $20, $10 for kids
