Switch Problems Cause Metra Delays at Union Station

The agency says that trains on the Metra Southwest Service and BNSF lines could be impacted by the switch problems

Delays are being reported on multiple Metra lines Friday night thanks to switching problems at Union Station.

According to Metra officials, trains on both the BNSF and Southwest Service lines could be delayed by up 20 minutes as a result of switch problems on tracks operated by Amtrak.

As of 5:54 p.m., switch issues have been resolved, and trains are now able to enter and leave Union Station. 

The agency does warn commuters that delays will persist through the remainder of the evening.
