Two people robbed an East Chicago Dunkin’ Donuts on Christmas Day.

At 10:42 a.m. Friday, police responded to a call of a robbery in progress at a Dunkin’ Donuts in the 1700 block of Columbus Drive, according to a statement from East Chicago Police.

An employee told police that two black males “announced a robbery while displaying a silver in color handgun.” The suspects then “patted down” the employees and a customer for their personal items, demanded money from the register and ordered the employees to the back of the store, according to the statement.

The employee said that the suspects wore all black hooded clothing with green-and-black-checkered scarfs and ski masks, according to the statement.

The robbers fled the store headed eastbound on Columbus Drive, police said.

No injuries were reported during the incident, police said.

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to call Detective Angelo Machuca at (219) 391-8318 or (219) 391-8500 to remain anonymous.
