Two early Monday morning assaults would indicate that the are becoming more and more of a target for thieves.
Police say just after midnight Monday, a couple was walking near State and Randolph when a female snatched the woman's phone.
The man tried to stop the thief, but she took out a bike log and hit him in the head. However, the lock whipped back around, hitting the assailant in her own face. Police were able to place the suspect under arrest.
A mile north and two hours later a man and a woman pistol-whipped a man walking near Franklin and Huron.
Police are looking for the couple behind the attack. They were last seen running east on Huron.
