Police: Teens Stole Cash Register and Booze

Teens charged with liquor store heist

Police say one teen took 31 bottles of booze off the wall and passed them to another as he ransacked a Joliet liquor store Sunday morning.

According to reports, burglar alarms sounded around 3:45 a.m. at Consumer Liquors, 2352 W. Glenwood Ave., and officers arrived to find a rock had been thrown through the front door.

Deputy Chief Patrick Kerr said surveillance video shows Timothy R. Churnovic, 17, coming in to grab the cash register, six packs of cigarettes and a case of beer. Churnovic then put 31 bottles of assorted hard liquor into a garbage can, which he brought out to a brown Oldsmobile Alero driven byJohn F. Moon, 18.

Police said Churnovic left the area on foot, while Moon drove toward the Jefferson Street area, but both were stopped by responding officers. After finding the garbage can and cash register in the trunk, Moon, of Channahon and Churnovic, of Crest Hill, were arrested and booked into the county jail on burglary charges.
