Teen Girl Injured in Suburban Brawl Caught on Cam

Several videos of the incident were posted to social media as police asked for information surrounding what happened

A 13-year-old girl was wounded after a group of people got into a fight in northwest suburban Elgin Wednesday in a brawl that was all caught on camera, police said.

Officers were called to Advocate Sherman Hospital just before 4 p.m. after a teen girl’s parents took her for treatment following a physical altercation in the 200 block of Henry Street, according to a release from the Elgin Police Department.

A 15-year-old girl was also involved in the fight but did not require medical attention, police said.

Several videos of the incident were posted to social media as police asked for information surrounding what happened, authorities said.

One video appeared to show two girls fighting with a large group of people around them. Shortly into the fight, several other people joined in the brawl. At one point, a young girl is seen sprawled out on the sidewalk unresponsive.

Marques Carter witnessed and filmed the fights, saying he posted the video to social media to show the public what’s happening in the suburban town. His video has been shared more than 2,300 times since Wednesday afternoon.

"I really wanted to share it to show people the type of things that are going on in our children's community," he said.

Carter, 22, claimed some of the people fighting in the video were students and others were adults. He said "it was a planned fight."

It’s not quite clear what caused the brawl to break out, but police are asking anyone with information to call (847) 289-2600.
