Take Over Jam Canceled at Chicago Theatre for ‘Security Concerns'

The Take Over Jam event at the Chicago Theatre was canceled Thursday "due to specific safety and security concerns for the surrounding area," according to the theater and WGCI.

The event, presented by 107.5 WGCI, was slated to take place at the downtown venue beginning at 8 p.m.

Both the theater and WGCI said they were "advised by Chicago law enforcement" to cancel the Take Over Jam.

Chicago police confirmed the event was canceled based on concerns raised by local law enforcement, but declined to comment what prompted those concerns. Authorities did note the issue was not terrorism-related.

Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded, officials said. Any tickets purchased through the venue box office or Ticketmaster outlets can be refunded at the point of purchase.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and look forward to your continued patronage of The Chicago Theatre," the theater's website read.
