Woman Charged in February Loop Hit-and-Run

Two women critically injured in Feb. 8 accident

A South Side woman was charged Friday for a February hit-and-run in the Loop that left two women critically injured.

Mitzie McCune, 40, of the 9200 block of South Ada Street, was charged Friday with two felony counts of leaving the scene of an accident with injury, and one misdemeanor count each of failure to render aid in a crash involving injury, driving with no license and not having insurance.

McCune is accused driving a vehicle that struck two women Feb. 8 on South State Street near Monroe Street, police said.

The hit-and-run involving an SUV happened about 7:15 p.m. in the 100 block of South State Street and left Maureen Doyle and her friend, Jean Frederick, in critical condition.

Police identified McCune as the motorist during an unrelated narcotics arrest, police said. She was also charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance.
