Shedd Aquarium Evacuated After Small Fire in Bathroom

The Shedd Aquarium will remain closed for the rest of the day due to the fire

The Shedd Aquarium was evacuated Saturday afternoon after a small fire broke out in a bathroom.

Crews responded at 3:41 p.m. to the fire in a lower level bathroom of the aquarium, according to Fire Media Affairs.

Firefighters used hand pumps to put it out. No one was hurt, officials said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The aquarium will remain closed for the rest of the day, according to the Shedd's official Twitter acount. Guests are allowed to re-enter to retrieve personal items and are being advised to email contactus@sheddaquarium.org for refunds.
