Rideshare giant Uber recommends basic tips to stay safe using the app. The company says riders should check to make sure they're getting in the right car each time - the vehicle's make, model, plate number and driver picture are all in the app.

You can also share trip details, like ETA, with a friend so they'll know if something goes awry.

Uber also asks that you trust your instincts. If something seems suspicious, they say you should listen to your guy and not take the ride.

Anyone with information on the robberies is asked to contact Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
