Illinois may not be represented on a list of the safest universities and colleges in America, but a new ranking reveals that the Midwest has plenty of good options to choose from.

According to a study commissioned by Your Local Security, the safest school in the Midwest is the University of Iowa in Iowa City, which checks in at number 10 on the list.

A total of six Midwestern schools made the cut for the ranking, which took into account campus size, the location, types of crime reported, and took data from the Campus Safety and Security Survey and FBI Uniform Crime Report.
