Reality Show Features Chicago Designers

"So You Want to be a Designer" kicks off Thursday

The Kenmore Live Studio in River North is usually home to live culinary shows, but over the next few weeks, they're cooking up a different type of program.

"So You Want to be a Designer" is an eight-week online reality show kicking off March 24th. It pits six Chicago designers in a series of competitions with the winner picking up a cool $20,000 grand prize, along with a Kenmore washer and dryer, of course.

The six contestants, who include Chicago Fashion Incubator alumnus Anna Hovet, are given a series of tasks early in the week and present their final creations at the live show Thursday night.

The program is hosted by Ootra Chicago's Debbie Jagel -- which should make for interesting TV in itself -- and the pieces are judged by a panel of fashion insiders.

A contestant will be eliminated after each episode, starting with the March 31st airing.

Log on to Kenmore's Facebook page if you'd like to be in the live studio audience (678 N Wells St), or watch it on Facebook 7 p.m. each Thursday night.
