Kane, Keith Rank Among NHL's Top 50 Players

Chicago Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane is one of the top players in the NHL, but just how high did he rank on a new list of the league’s best?

According to NHL Network’s Top 50 Players Right Now, Kane is currently the fourth best player in the National Hockey League. The Blackhawks’ winger, who scored 34 goals and dished out 55 assists a season ago, won the league’s MVP award in 2016.

Kane ended up as the league’s top-ranked winger, besting Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov, who finished in ninth, and Boston’s Brad Marchand, who ranked 12th.

Edmonton’s Connor McDavid won the top spot on the ranking, beating Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby for the coveted spot. Defenseman Erik Karlsson finished third, and Pittsburgh’s Evgeni Malkin rounded out the top five.

Kane was not the only Blackhawks player to make the list. Defenseman Duncan Keith remains one of the top blue liners in the league, ranking 21st overall in the NHL according to the list. Center Jonathan Toews also made the cut, finishing in the 36th position.

Former Blackhawks winger and current Columbus Blue Jacket Artemi Panarin made the cut, finishing in 31st after his trade from the team earlier this summer.
